Ice-O-Matic GEMU09090 Description
Each day, the Ice-O-Matic GEMU09090 undercounter ice machine can generate 110 pounds of ice, but if ambient air is above 70 degrees Fahrenheit and incoming water is above 50 degrees Fahrenheit, it may produce less ice. It makes nugget ice with a soft, chewable texture that most guests prefer for perfect soft drinks. Pure Ice® technology keeps the ice fresh, removing bacteria, scale, and odors.
This Ice-O-Matic GEMU09090 undercounter ice maker is made for quiet operation, so it works well in offices, suites, and break rooms. Finished with stainless steel, the unit is strong and simple to wipe clean. This ice machine uses a gravity drain to move waste water into a floor drain. If a floor drain is not available, operators will want to select a unit that has a drain pump.

We love our ice maker!!
This ice maker is great. It is my husbands favorite thing. This is our 2nd one and would buy it again and again.
Great but some issues
The unit looks great, stainless all around so if it was visible from more than the front, you're covered. The protective plastic wrap surrounds everything and takes time to get off. It's wedged into joints and where panels overlap, including the front handle. But the finish is nice. We had an old unit with gravity drain near the floor, but note that on this unit the drain outlet is very close to the floor, only maybe 4 inches. This makes installation under a countertop a little more tricky and precise, but not bad. The ice is great, production is great. My main issue is that after about a month the unit did not stop making ice one day - the auto shutoff (ultrasonic sensor) did not sense the ice level. When we checked it in the morning, the unit was making noise and ice had pushed out the top, moving the top cover panel. Since then, we've been shutting it off at night until we can figure this issue out. Not sure if it is a sensor or something else interfering with it.

Awesome sonic ice
Have had ours just over 6 months now and is awesome! Would be hard to live without at this point! Just remember to buy the pump kit if you don't have a floor drain right behind the unit.
Gear motor overheats and melts the ice
Had to have it repaired after 2 years, which we thought was an electrical issue. Now about 9 months later, the gear motor is overheating and causing the ice to melt and cause mold due to elevated temperatures inside. When it was new, it worked ok, but I don't think I will buy this brand again.

My ice machine has broken to 2 times in 3 years due to a gear motor lock up.

So far this thing is awesome! If you can rationalize the expense (ours is just for home use), this is a great machine. Sonic type ice. Makes ice very quickly and exterior is nice.
