The Dexter 5387 08070 cleaver is designed to cut through meat where the joints and bones connect and can easily open lobsters. Its wooden handle provides a traditional appearance since it is made of rosewood. Brass compression rivets connect the handle to the blade and shrink and swell with the wood to maintain a secure fit. "I was recently defeated by a lamb bone and I vowed vengeance so I took the interwebs to find a solid cleaver. I owned a Tramontina (excellent Brazilian made, brought from Guyana) cleaver before so I wanted something with the same quality, feel and performance. I looked at several cleavers and ultimately decided on this Dexter-Russel 5387 cleaver. The Good: • Overall, very good construction • Very sharp blade • The rosewood handle is excellent in construction and feel. I have average size hands and I love that I can get a solid grip with this cleaver. • At 1.5 pounds overall, weight is good. I would have liked perhaps 2 lbs but this is still very good. The Bad: • None at the moment but I will post follow up reviews Suggestions: • Include a case as an option or with the item for better storage."
