Detecto P-48R Description
The Detecto P48R plastic step trash can is a medical waste receptacle for hospitals, doctors’ offices, and other medical facilities. It features a baked-on epoxy finish and has a 12-gallon capacity. This trash can is designed with a pedal and linkage built from heavy-duty materials to enable smooth, hands-free operation. To keep contents secure from exposure, the can’s lid self-closes for complete hands-free operation. Also included are identification stickers for bio-hazard and infectious waste that can be used to advertise the can's intended use.

This may save my cat's life.
This is a pretty pricey option for household use, but I bought it to save my cat's life. He gets into the trash every night, and we've been reaching the end of our ropes. Upon our first week of use, I have high hopes. The lid of the can is heavy enough he can't lift it with a paw, and that's how he's always managed to pull all the other cans over.
