Beware! not what was described.

I purchased this Slicer because the Katom salesperson over the phone recommended this slicer would fit all my needs. We only slice Ham, Salami, Turkey, and Provolone once or twice a day ( 12-15 slices per ). Unfortunately, it can't slice Turkey and Ham because the diameter of the meat doesn't fit the carriage, even though the slicer has a large 12" blade, just like my old slicer did. Due to the size of the carriage, the meat overlaps the blade, so you can't get a full slice. In addition, when I slice Salami and provolone the motor struggles and slows down the blade. The salesperson also mentioned that this slicer was made in Europe..Not true it is made in China. After speaking with a couple of Customer Rep. from Katom they would not take it back because of policy, they did contact the manufacturer in my behalf and they agreed to take the slicer back but I would have to ship it back at my expense. After packing up the slicer and bringing it to a shipping location, it would cost me over $250 plus additional for insured. This was unacceptable and I don't feel it was fair for me to spend additional money for a product that was recommended by a Katom Rep. and ended up not being what was described. I have tried to contact the manufacturer a few times, left a message a few days ago and haven't heard back from them. I'm trying to set up a service call to check the slicer because it makes a rattling/grinding noise when its on and also why the motor slows down while cutting Salami/Prov. I will update when or if they contact me.
