Taco Racks: What You Need to Know
On the table, a taco holder provides an attractive presentation and makes enjoying tacos a little less messy. We carry taco servers with as few as two compartments and as many as five, giving you flexibility as to the size of your tacos and generosity of your kitchen. Our taco servers also come in many different materials, enabling you to match your existing aesthetic and keep everything clean. These also can be used to serve hot dogs and similar dishes.
Choosing a taco stand holder is fairly straightforward – which holders match the other dinnerware you'll use and how large of a holder do you need? Do I need taco holders at all? We'll discuss different materials that comprise taco stands, and answer some of your common questions, below.
Common Questions About Taco Holders
What materials are taco holders made of?
Taco racks usually are made of metal – stainless steel or aluminum – or melamine. These materials are strong enough to withstand repeated, high-volume use, but malleable enough to form the zig-zag shape of a taco holder. Stainless steel typically is more expensive than melamine and aluminum but lasts longer in turn. Aluminum resists corrosion, as does stainless steel, but doesn't hold its shape with the same veracity, so it's likelier to bend or become misshapen. Metallic options have distinct, eye-catching appearances and usually can be cleaned in a high- or low-temperature dishwasher. These pieces will last you a good while.
Melamine is a type of organic-based plastic with fibers molded within the resin to provide strength and shape. Melamine taco holders are cheaper than stainless steel options and can be cleaned in high- and low-temperature commercial dishwashers. This material also can be made to hold different colors and interesting shapes – a great option for operators who don't want a basic metal look to taco holders. Melamine taco holders can have intriguing shapes that stand out on your table and uniquely highlight your tacos. While melamine cannot be used in a microwave, that shouldn't be an issue with these particular pieces.
Why would I want a metal taco holder?
Taco servers enhance the presentation of tacos. Because tacos are usually open at the top of the dish, and rounded at the bottom, they're liable to tip over and spill contents onto the plate. Even if you manage to get the tacos plated in an attractive, stable manner, as soon as your guests take their first bite, the taco is likely to start falling apart. However, with a taco rack, your servers can assemble a visually interesting taco that doesn't fall out on the way to the table. Your guests can then eat neatly and maintain the integrity of your culinary creation throughout the meal.
How should I clean these pieces?
Most of our taco stands can be tossed in your commercial dishwasher and be perfectly fine. However, there is a possibility that some must be cleaned by hand – consult the product specifications page for the piece you're considering for more information on sanitizing your stand. They will be on your plate and contact your food, so it's important that each piece is sanitized completely to eliminate the possibility of food poisoning.
