Common Questions about Splash by KaTom
What exactly is Splash by KaTom?
Splash is a KaTom house brand we've pulled together from trusted manufacturers to help our customers find dependable products at accessible prices. Splash includes an array of single and multi-compartment sinks, faucets, and a few accessories, such as gas hoses. Splash restaurant equipment is made with functionality and long lifespans in mind, giving you the most utility for your money. This is the place to shop when you need reliable equipment at a low price – you won't find excess features and fancy marketing gimmicks, just the product you need at a price you'll love. Corner sinks, compartment sinks, and commercial hand sinks make up the bulk of Splash's lineup.
Are Splash sinks NSF certified?
Most of our Splash sinks are NSF certified, meaning they can be used safely in food preparation applications. If you're going to outfit a restaurant kitchen, look for the NSF label on the product specification page to ensure you acquire food-safe equipment. Local health departments often require your kitchen equipment to be NSF certified, but this will vary by jurisdiction. Check with your local health department to verify if you need NSF-certified equipment. Even if it's not required, getting NSF equipment might be the best investment in the long run, should regulations change. NSF certification also proves to your customers that you're serious about safety.
Do the sinks include a faucet assembly?
Some of our Splash by KaTom sinks come with a faucet assembly, but most do not. Consult the product specification page for the sink you're considering and confirm if it includes a faucet or not. Regardless, you can find the sink you want with or without a faucet attached. If you have a particular setup in mind, choosing a specific faucet can get the best utilization out of your sink, but if the listed faucet is the one you want, then ordering them together saves you a step. Splash restaurant equipment includes pre-rinse assemblies, which remove food debris at the beginning of your cleaning line. If you're ordering a three-compartment sink, getting a pre-rinse assembly for the first compartment will streamline the process considerably.
How do I match a faucet to a sink?
First off, you need to determine if the sink has been made for a splash- or deck-mounted faucet. Splash mounts are installed into a backsplash that rises vertically from the sink, with the faucet sticking out horizontally over the compartment. Deck-mounted faucets rise from the horizontal space behind the compartment and holes will be drilled there to install it. Once you've chosen a deck- or splash-mount style, check that the faucet holes match the faucet you've chosen. They'll list a certain distance apart in inches (frequently 8 or 4 inches), and the faucet you want should list the same distance. The hot and cold water lines will run through these holes into the faucet. It's possible to buy adjusters if you accidentally get a faucet and sink that don't match, but it's easiest if you check beforehand.
