Bar Speed Rails: What You Need to Know

Speed rails are an easily installed addition to bar storage that provide quick access to the most important, frequently used bottles in your bar service. Enable your operators to serve drinks faster by providing extra storage space close at hand. If your bar has a few favorite drinks, you can keep those readily available with our selection of single speed rails, or add another few to the rack with a double speed rail.

Our bottle racks come in various styles and sizes, and you can choose some helpful functions such as sound deadening. Different bottle racks attach with different hardware, so you can find the easiest type for you to install. You'll also be able to choose from several materials, such as plastic and stainless steel.

Common Questions About Speed Rails

What material should I choose for my bar speed rail?

Stainless steel is by far the most common material used in making speed rails. Almost all the units we carry are made of this durable metal. Stainless steel resists denting and corrosion better than lighter metals such as aluminum, though it's also more expensive. Not all stainless steel is the same and many products have the gauge of their steel listed, which can be confusing. The higher the gauge of steel, the thinner the material – 16-gauge steel is thicker than 18-gauge steel. Thick steel might last longer than thin steel, but it's typically more expensive as well.

Aluminum is naturally cheaper and less durable than stainless steel, so it can be a good choice if you're on a tight budget or just want to see how much use you get from a speed rail before investing in a longer term solution.

Do I need a single or double speed rail?

A single speed rail has only one row of storage for bottles, while a double speed rail has a second row of storage behind the first. The primary determinant between the two is the number of bottles you want available during service. You'll also want to consider how much room you have behind the bar – if you're already operating in a pretty narrow space, a single speed rail will occupy less room.

Before purchasing, consider which bottles you use most frequently. If you only end up with a few, you can get a single rail with confidence, but if you think your service could be significantly quickened by a larger number of bottles, then investing in a double rail would be your best bet.

What other features should I consider?

Speed rails can be outfitted with a handful of useful modifications. Some come with a cover that can be locked to secure the drinks stored in your rail when not in use. Others come with special padding that deadens sound when taking or replacing bottles in your rack, which helps maintain a pleasant atmosphere for your guests. Consult the product specification pages for the pieces you're considering to verify they have the features you value most.
