The essential oven mitt comes in several varieties. Typically, they are made of fabric with heat insulation, but newer technology incorporates silicone, neoprene, and Kevlar. They range in length from 12 to 24 inches, and many offer flame resistance and protect up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit.
