Hoshizaki AM-50BAK-DS Description

The Hoshizaki AM-50BAK-DS undercounter ice maker produces top-hat ice—gourmet cubes that measure 0.875 inches by 1 inch. These cubes are often used in upscale restaurants and bars or banquet halls. The condenser is air cooled, meaning fans move air over the condensing coils where refrigerant runs so that the refrigerant can remove heat from the evaporator. Through this process, ice running over the evaporator plate freezes and forms cubes. In 24 hours, the unit can make 51 pounds, and it has storage space for 22 pounds.

The power switch is accessible without removing the front panel, and because the ice maker has few moving parts, the risk of failure is small. This Hoshizaki AM-50BAK-DS undercounter ice machine takes in and expels air from the front, so it does not require clearances at the sides or rear. Its door accommodates a custom panel, so it is perfect for cabinet installation under a counter.

Works well but very loud...

After months of waiting the ice maker arrived in good condition. Installed and looks ok. We ordered custom cabinet panel for the front and the fit is not great. Lots of space/gap around side and top. Cabinet door doesn't cover flush (even though we ordered the appropriate size door) so the stainless steel is very visible on edges and especially across the top. That I can live with but the noise this appliance makes is VERY loud. Fan runs loud and maker hums even louder. I would never recommend this for a kitchen due to the noise. We have it in a separate bar room so we aren't living in that room and it wasn't worth the trouble returning and the return window was up by the time we finished our project and got it installed. All this being said if you are looking for a kitchen I do not recommend due to the noise!
