The Cleveland 22CGT6.1 SteamChef™ countertop steamer accommodates six full-size, 2 1⁄2-inch-deep steam table pans in its cooking cavity. Food in this unit is prepared with steam—a method that quickly cooks product while retaining the flavors and juices. Because the steamer has a water reservoir in the cooking compartment, it generates steam without an external boiler, so when the reservoir is heated with burners, the water turns into steam. Ensuring all product is evenly cooked, steam in the cavity is circulated by a convection fan.

The unit requires a water connection because the reservoir automatically fills with water when it is switched on, and to eliminate the need for manual refills, probes monitor and maintain the correct water level during steaming. When the steamer is switched off, water automatically drains from the cavity. With KleanShield™ technology, the unit collects condensate from the chamber, removing impurities that could contaminate the reservoir.

This Cleveland 22CGT6.1 gas countertop steamer has a 60-minute timer, though if the recipe requires longer steaming, the unit can be switched to continuous steam. Left-hinged, the steamer door has a handle on the right, and with a two-piece construction, the door has an inner piece that self-adjusts to prevent steam from leaking out. If the door is opened during the cook cycle, steam and the convection fan automatically shut off.
