Open & Flatware Racks

Flatware racks enable commercial dishwashers to efficiently clean large collections of utensils as quickly as possible. They lack the pegs and supports needed to clean tableware but are an ideal choice for flatware, pots, pans, and other oddly shaped items. More

Open and flatware racks are versatile items that can greatly benefit foodservice operations utilizing a commercial dishwasher to clean their supplies. While some racks may be suited to a specific purpose (like those with compartments for drinking glasses), flatware dishwasher racks will help wash miscellaneous items that won't fit in other racks. Dishwasher flatware racks are available in a variety of widths and lengths, including half- and full-size options for operational flexibility.

Full-sized flatware racks are open, allowing flatware to be spread out in the bottom of the rack without dividers or pegs. Caddy-style flatware racks come with compartments that allow flatware to be placed upright for more thorough sanitation. These styles come in either half sizes that slide into the washer on its own or in smaller sizes that can be inserted into an open rack. Operators can also purchase accessories such as hold-down grids for their open racks, preventing small items from flying out of the rack during the dishwashing cycle.

Flatware dishwasher racks provide a secure surface for washing virtually anything that fits, though this doesn't mean they should be used for everything. Dinnerware is best cleaned in racks with pegs that keep dishes upright, as an open rack would require dishes to be stacked atop each other; this would hinder the sanitizing process and even lead to breakage. Foodservice operators should review their restaurant volume, commercial dishwasher specs, and overall dishwashing needs to determine which flatware racks would best suit their supplies.
