The Wusthof 1040331314 (formerly Wusthof 4172-7) Classic Ikon 5-inch hollow edge Santoku knife is a two-in-one tool that works well for chopping and scooping. Equipped with a blade thinner than standard chefs' knives, this Japanese knife has a straighter blade edge with hollow indentions lining the blade. These indentions prevent food from sticking on the knife after cutting, which is ideal for starchy vegetables. Users can push chopped foods on the knife's flat, thin blade for easy transport to pots and pans. The blade is created using Precision Edge Technology, which includes laser cutting and whetstone sharpening, to ensure blades remain sharp over time. Its full tang, forged from high-carbon stainless steel, connects to the handle with three rivets. Constructed of polyoxymethylene, the handle has a tight molecular structure that defends against fading and discoloring to maintain its initial appearance over time. Its curved structure supplies a nonslip grip for safe slicing. Users can sharpen the length of the blade easily because the bolster is half size and the blade's heel adds balance during sharpening.
