The Southbend SC-3S steamer accepts six 12-inch by 20-inch by 2.5-inch pans in each of its three compartments. Its exterior is constructed of fully welded stainless steel for durability and rust resistance. The door has an aluminum interior and swings open at a 180-degree angle when its latch is released. A wheel-and-screw mechanism securely seals the door shut, and a full-perimeter gasket seal keeps steam and heat inside the unit.

The Southbend SC-3S steamer automatically shuts off its controls, exhausts incoming steam, and drains condensate when the steam cycle finishes. An automatic timer alerts employees with both audible and visible alarms after each cycle is complete. Servicing the control panel is facilitated by its removable panel, and its cabinet base has adjustable front feet for setup on uneven floors and flanged feet that secure the unit to the ground.
