To display cheesecake, mousse, breads, and donuts in the same unit, the Federal SGR5948DZ High Volume bakery case's left side is refrigerated while its right side is non refrigerated. Using R513a refrigerant, the refrigeration system produces and maintains average temperatures between 38 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Staff can adjust temperature with the thermal controls, while the case's thermometer provides an accurate readout. To preserve product quality, the oversized coil and low-velocity fan system generate high humidity. This self-contained refrigeration system includes a condenser air filter, condensate evaporator, and rust-resistant insulated evaporator coil compartment—all of which can be accessed from the unit's back.

This dessert case measures 59 13⁄100 inches wide by 35 31⁄100 inches deep by 48 inches high and can be used as a stand-alone unit or be integrated into a continuous case lineup. To complement common decorative themes and case styles, its steel base sports a black trim and laminate finish, and its front, top, ends, and doors are made of durable tempered thermopane glass. For a full view of the LED-illuminated interior, the front glass is subtly sloped.

Both of the Federal SGR5948DZ dual-zone bakery case's sections feature a white, scratch-resistant display deck and three tiers of white wire shelves that can be raised, lowered, or tilted as inventory changes. To minimize shoplifting and product contamination while enhancing customer and employee interactions, two rear sliding glass doors grant access to the case's interior. For simplified cleanup, the front glass panel can be tilted out, and the shelves, shelf supports, shelf lights, and doors can be removed.
