Turbo Air Merchandiser: What You Need to Know

Turbo Air refrigerated merchandisers can be used in various applications, including at supermarkets, convenience stores, and restaurants and cafes wishing to offer self-serve bottled drinks. They use self-cleaning, air-cooled condensers to keep food and other products refrigerated or frozen. Most machines use environmentally friendly R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant and are 115 volts to fit any regular electrical outlet.

Common Questions About Turbo Air Refrigerated Merchandisers

What is a Turbo Air open air merchandiser?

Traditional cooler and freezer merchandisers with sliding or swinging glass doors and Turbo Air open-display merchandisers are available. As opposed to closed coolers and freezers, Turbo Air open coolers use an air curtain barrier to keep room-temperature air and foreign particles out of the unit. Placing open-air units in high-traffic areas make it convenient for customers to select products, increasing impulse purchases.

How do I keep units running efficiently?

For ideal operation, keep room temperature at less than 75 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity at less than 55 percent for Turbo Air open-air coolers, keeping them away from HVAC vents, fans, or doorways. Keep units completely loaded with product to supply sufficient space for ventilation to ensure efficient operation.

How do I prevent theft from open-air coolers?

Open-air coolers have the option for security covers – retractable curtains that prevent access to merchandisers when your business is closed.

Are freezers available?

Turbo Air merchandisers remain in one of three temperature ranges while running. These temperature ranges are designed to store the following products:

  • Refrigerated product: Turbo Air refrigerated merchandisers keep products such as drinks, meats, and cheeses at temperatures between 33 and 38 degrees Fahrenheit. They are available in multiple formats, including horizontal and vertical, and can be open-air and closed display units.
  • Ice: Turbo Air ice machines are designed to hold packaged bags of ice between 10 and 15 degrees Fahrenheit. Open-air units are not available.
  • Frozen products: These units keep items such as frozen pizza and ice cream at temperatures between -10 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit. Like ice merchandisers, only closed units are available.

What dimensions are available?

  • Typically standing more than 6 feet high, vertical merchandisers are taller than they are wide and may include sliding or swinging doors or an open-air format. They include four or five shelf levels and one, two, or three vertical sections. All of Turbo Air's ice merchandisers and frozen product merchandisers are vertical, closed-off units.
  • Horizontal merchandisers are Turbo Air open display merchandisers that typically contain a couple levels of product shelving. They are usually about 3 feet high and come in lengths between 28 and 80 inches.
  • Island merchandisers can be either horizontal or vertical open-air units that display products in a 360-degree rotation. These units enable stores to place cooled goods in an open, high-visibility area instead of a wall or corner.
