Media Cart

Deciding how to present training information or slideshows of memorable events can be a challenge. A media cart can hold all the elements necessary for presenting information, pictures, or videos to large groups. While these are simple in design, it is important to consider a few things before choosing one. More

Visual presentations are a great tool when training new hires and veteran staff alike. One of the trends in catering reunions, weddings, anniversary parties, and other special occasions is the addition of slide presentations. You can easily bring multimedia presentations to life in a variety of venues with the ease of a cart.

Number of Levels

The number of levels you'll need will, of course, depend on your uses for the cart. These carts usually have three or four shelves. If you have several items, you may want more shelves, especially if the bottom one needs to be enclosed and you need to have ready access to the other items. Separate DVD players or music players may need to be accessible, and speakers may need to have their controls within easy reach. Projectors can be large, meaning you'll need a separate shelf for your laptop.

Weight, Outlets, and Cord Length

Available in 33-, 42-, and 48-inch heights, these carts typically have a weight capacity of between 150 and 300 pounds. They will usually have a 3-outlet power strip and a cord length of 10-15 feet. Most media carts will also have a cord wrap and 4-inch swivel casters. These carts have molded shelves and metal uprights.

Specialty Options

A media cart with a screen mount may be more useful in smaller areas like conference rooms and offices. For larger areas like ballrooms, lecture halls, cafeterias, and outdoor venues, shelves can accommodate laptops, speakers, and projectors. A unit with a lockable cabinet can also provide storage and security for other expensive or valuable items like microphones, laser pointers, and custom CDs or DVDs of your clients' memories.
