Hobart slicers feature a 12-horsepower motor that can handle up to 4 hours of slicing meat without shredding delicate items. The motor also powers a poly V-belt drive system that's quieter than other units and typically incurs lower costs when repairs are needed. Hobart meat slicers operate at 300 RPM in medium-duty models and 430 RPM in heavy-duty models. Hobart offers manual and automatic slicers – operated by a start/stop button in manual slicers and variable four-speed carriages with front-mounted controls in automatic ones. Some units are capable of manual and automatic slice modes.

All Hobart slicers include a tilting carriage system that can be separated into parts to streamline cleaning as needed. These carriages can be removed for sanitation, and Hobart HS Series slicers won't start until the carriage in placed in the home position to help ensure user safety. In Hobart Edge models, the carriage can't be removed unless the gauge plate is closed. Blades on Hobart meat slicers range from 10 to 14 inches, guaranteeing accurate and consistent cuts of meat and cheese.
