Commercial Frozen Drink Machines: What You Need to Know

Commercial slush machines come in two main types: merchandising and back-of-house. Merchandising options typically consist of one or more clear hoppers that hold the drink and sit at the front of house for customers to see its churning, slushy goodness. Other options produce large quantities of frozen drink without the display aspect for back-of-house use. Both types have a cooling system, dispenser, and a churning device to keep the product from freezing completely.

Common Questions About Slushie Machines

Can all slushy machines freeze alcoholic drinks?

Not all frozen drink machines can reach temperatures low enough to freeze alcohol. For each individual drink, the freezing point varies based on what else is in it, though drinks with alcohol require significantly lower temperatures to freeze. Because they have low amounts of alcohol, beer and wine will freeze a little below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, but stronger drinks can require temperatures as low as -17 degrees Fahrenheit. Some machines KaTom offers can reach temperatures low enough to make frozen cocktails, but not all. If you'll be making alcoholic drinks in your industrial slush machine, verify it's rated to freeze them.

Can I serve non-frozen drinks in a commercial slushie machine?

KaTom offers some machines with more than one function, featuring temperature regulation options that enable you to serve frozen drinks or chilled beverages with the same machine, depending on your needs. However, not every model we offer has that capability. Consider what drinks you plan to serve before purchasing a slushie machine to ensure your model can fulfill all your needs.

How many hoppers should my machine have?

Machines with multiple hoppers – or beverage compartments – provide operators with an eye-catching merchandising opportunity, as well as an expanded menu. Complementing colors spinning side by side are an appealing advertisement for the drinks you offer, and multiple hoppers mean multiple flavor options. However, more hoppers also mean more space occupied by the frozen drink machine.
