Common Questions About Condiment Pumps

Which establishments use condiment dispensers?

Sauce dispensers are mostly used by businesses that need quick customer service and serve foods usually accompanied by condiments, such as hamburgers, hot dogs, tacos, or French fries. Sauce dispenser pumps enable users to dispense set amounts of condiment with each press. Many dispensers are adjustable, so users can access the exact amount that suits their product without overwhelming the main dish. Ketchup pumps are great at fairs and food trucks because one press of the pump will flavor burgers or fries with a suitable amount of ketchup, reducing the need to stop and measure sauces or open tiny packets. Sauce pumps are common in fast food restaurants, buffets, food trucks, and diners because a pump placed in the dining area can satisfy every customer's condiment demand without employee labor, saving capital. Sauce dispensers can also be used in back-of-house applications if your menu contains several items that need the same sauces, such as queso in a Mexican-style or Tex-Mex restaurant. If you scoop the same condiment over and over throughout the day, an appropriately sized pump could save time, labor, and money.

What different types of pump are available?

We carry pumps in sizes ranging from single-pump units to ones with as many as six pumps. Large, multiple-pump units can be lifesavers in busy fast food front rooms; guests don't have to wait in line to get their ketchup because the same condiment can be placed in multiple dispensers. On the other hand, multiple pumps enable a broader selection, so if you don't have a busy front room, you can offer guests a variety of unique condiments. Consider the space required by each set of pumps – if you have limited counter space, smaller pump sets will fit where larger ones don't.

You should also consider the viscosity of the condiments you intend to dispense. Thin spouts will not handle chunky condiments, such as relish, as well as thicker spouts. Check the product specification page for each model to find out whether it can handle thick condiments or not.

Do these pumps go on or in the countertop?

Some of the pumps are designed to sit on top of a counter, which is the easiest way to add a condiment pump to your establishment. However, drop-in pumps improve the aesthetic of the condiment station and can be a good choice if you want the pumps in the same spot every day. Mobile stations – such as food trucks, fair stands, or amusement park stands – will be unable to install sauce pumps in a countertop as easily.

Can my pump keep condiments chilled?

Many of our pumps have storage spaces than can be chilled with ice or ice packs, but most pumps do not refrigerate their contents. Check the product specification page for each pump to see if it has room for ice in the storage area. Also, consider whether your condiments could spoil if left unrefrigerated for too long.

Can I clean my pump?

Our pump selection has many options that are dishwasher safe for quick cleaning, but not all options can withstand the rigors of a dishwasher. If this feature will be important in adding a ketchup pump to your station, check the product specification page for each unit to see whether your choice is dishwasher safe or not. All pumps are cleanable, but their specific cleaning procedures will be detailed in their manuals.
