When users' hands are placed beneath the Excel Dryer XL-GR XLERATOR® hand dryer's air outlet, its infrared optical sensor releases high-speed air automatically to dry hands in 8 seconds. If hands remain under the outlet after 35 seconds, the unit will stop blowing air to conserve energy. Operators can adjust the unit's speed and sound with the built-in controls, while the heat settings can be changed as needed. The heating element is secured in the blower housing to resist vandalism and can produce an average air temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit when the room is 72 degrees Fahrenheit.

To streamline maintenance, this Excel Dryer XL-GR automatic hand dryer's filter sensor activates if the filter is clogged, while a red LED light flashes error codes to aid in troubleshooting. This die-cast zinc alloy unit is lightweight and has a graphite-textured painted finish to match common restroom themes. Designed for surface mounting between wash basins, the cover is secured to a base plate, which has three ⁷⁄₈-inch-diameter holes to simplify wall attachment. Overall, this unit measures 11³⁄₄ inches wide by 6¹¹⁄₁₆ inches deep by 12¹¹⁄₁₆ inches high.
