For low- and medium-volume commercial settings, the Hobart FD4/75-4 garbage disposer uses a continuous-duty, ³⁄₄-horsepower motor with a manual-reset thermal overload inherent protection mechanism and permanently lubricated ball bearings to cut through thick food waste and create small, drainable pieces. Its 1³⁄₄-inch-tall stationary shredder ring is built with four machine-ground, primary-action breaker bars and 42 secondary-action grinding teeth. To prevent foods from riding on its center, the 6³⁄₁₆-inch-diameter Ni-Resist flywheel features a breaker blade on its middle. This piece also features two replaceable, hardened stainless steel cutter blocks that can be indexed for new cutting edges. If the flywheel gets jammed, operators can reverse its rotational direction to extend grinding components' service life and prevent further damage.

To fit an appropriately sized commercial sink, the Hobart FD4/75-4 food waste disposer measures 7 inches in diameter by 22³⁄₄ inches high and features a short upper housing. Corrosion resistant and rugged, the grind and discharge housings are made of heavy aluminum. This unit can be fastened to a 7-inch I.D. throat-opening cone, and its chrome-plated tailpiece can connect to a 1¹⁄₂-inch standard drain trap. To eliminate metal-to-metal contact that can create vibrations and disruptive noise, it includes a vinyl isolating ring.
