Hobart FD4/50-1 Description
To break down food waste and prevent drain blockage, the Hobart FD4/50-1 garbage disposer's stationary shredder ring features four machine-ground primary-action breaker bars, 42 secondary-action grinding teeth, and a flywheel that prevents contents from riding at its center. This Ni-Resist flywheel also includes two hardened stainless steel cutter blocks that can be replaced and indexed for new cutting edges. Its continuous-duty, 1⁄2-horsepower motor is equipped with permanently lubricated ball bearings and a manual-reset thermal overload inherent protector for streamlined operation. If a jam occurs, operators can change the flywheel's direction to protect grinding components from damage.
With its short upper housing, the Hobart FD4/50-1 food waste disposer measures 7 inches in diameter by 205⁄8 inches high. Its grind and discharge housings are made of heavy aluminum for lasting corrosion resistance and durability. This unit can fasten to a 7-inch I.D. throat-opening cone, and a vinyl isolating rinse prevents metal-to-metal contact at the cone mounting that otherwise could create loud noise and vibrations. For attachment to a 11⁄2-inch standard drain trap, it includes a chrome-plated brass tailpiece.
