"The secret to the coarse or fine ice from this machine depends on the blade and the setting of the grind consistency. We have used our 1027HD for 16 years and it has not given us anything but pound after pound of beautiful shave ice. In our second year of operation during our second event the grind needed to be adjusted again again because we were getting sno-cone crushed ice consistency. I called Gold Medal and the tech suggested a new blade or sharpen the one we had and they would send a new one to us asap . We were on the road and at a home so we found a local shop to re- sharpen what we had. We finished the show we were at and one more before we changed the sharpened blade we received in 3 days from GM. Adjusting this machine is easy but after one year of six tons of ice the first year the blade got a little finicky. Lesson learned."
"This model can't shave fine ice. If it's set to fine, very little shaved ice comes out and it takes forever to fill a cup. However, if it's set to course, it does well. If you want snow cone, it would be okay to have this model but if you want fine shave ice, this is not the model you would want to have."
