For simple incorporation into established decorative themes in gas stations, cafeterias, and grocery stores, the Federal VRSS4878S Vision refrigerated merchandiser features a black interior, shelves, and trim. The exterior frame has the choice of paint or laminate colors. The tempered glass ends attractively contrast against the body while providing a clear side view of displayed products. This 47¹⁄₄-inch-wide by 33-inch-deep by 78-inch-tall unit features four shelving tiers. While the two top tiers measure 43¹⁄₄ inches wide by 14⁶³⁄₁₀₀ inches deep, the two base tiers are 43¹⁄₄ inches wide by 16⁶³⁄₁₀₀ inches deep. To accommodate variously sized inventory, the shelves can be secured in a flat position or adjusted to a 10-degree downward slant, and price tags can be inserted into the price tag molding located on the shelves' fronts. A top LED light illuminates the interior and garners customer attention, and because the front is open, patrons can quickly select their purchase.

To ensure beverages, prepackaged snacks, fruit, and other products are held at safe temperatures, Federal VRSS4878S square-end merchandiser's self-contained refrigeration system uses R449a refrigerant to produce and maintain temperatures from 38 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Operators can use the electronic temperature control to modify interior temperatures, and its digital thermometer provides a large readout. Depending on if the unit is pushed against a wall or not, its universal breathing design intakes air from the front and can discharge air from the front or rear, eliminating the need for rear clearance. To minimize ice buildup, this unit features an on-demand defrost system. During non-business hours, a night curtain can be placed over the open front to minimize temperature loss and conserve energy.
