The Groen TDH-20C steam kettle has a 20-quart (5-gallon) capacity—a size that works well on the countertop but still provides large batch cooking of almost anything, from sauces and gravies to rice and pasta. The unit uses self-contained steam to cook food—providing a more even heat than a stock pot range and eliminating hot spots that lead to scorching—and so does not need to be hooked up to a boiler or generator. Water is filled in the hollow jacket, which extends up the bottom of the kettle body, covering two-thirds of it.

Emptying contents from this kettle is facilitated by a manual tilt mechanism; when the hand lever is pulled, the kettle body tilts and a pouring lip on the rim of the container directs contents into a 4-inch-deep pan below, which can fit under the body when it is tilted. The safety shut-off feature turns off the heat if it is tilted past 12 degrees, and when the unit is tilted at all, the gas supply shuts off.

Durable for high-volume use, the Groen TDH-20C tabletop tilting kettle is made of welded stainless steel. For additional strength, the rim is reinforced, preventing denting that could lead to fluctuating steam pressure. The steam-jacketed kettle comes with a mounting bracket, which holds a separately-sold faucet on the back side so operators can have a constant supply of water.
