Its shelf plates are made of polypropylene—durable plastic that doesn't corrode and is simple to wipe clean. Treated with antimicrobial Camguard®, the shelves inhibit the growth of fungi, bacteria, mold, and other germs. Though each shelf supports 800 pounds individually, no more than 2,000 pounds should be stored on this unit in total.

For streamlined assembly, the Cambro CPU185472VS4480 starter shelving unit includes eight traverses, molded-in dovetails, and two preassembled post kits; the posts are composed of steel with polypropylene exteriors. It features three vented shelves and one solid shelf to enable storage of various products.
