Commercial Hand Dryers: Additional Information

Hand dryers are electric devices found in public restrooms and other such areas that are used to dry hands. Commercial hand dryers may operate with a push button or with the innovative infrared sensor technology. Infrared sensors allow the unit to automatically turn on when hands are placed underneath the air outlet and automatically stop when hands are removed. In case an inanimate object is placed beneath the air flow area, most hand dryers feature an automatic cut off that will stop the air flow after a certain amount of time to reduce energy costs.

Hand dryers have many advantages in comparison to paper towels, such as energy use and purchasing costs. A hand dryer is a one time purchase, whereas paper towels must be purchased frequently to replace those that have already been used. Dryers are nearly maintenance free, unlike paper towels which must be replaced and cleaned up. Hand dryers are also a better choice for the environment, reducing the amount of trees that must be used to create the towels. When producing paper towels, around 20,000 gallons of water has been affected by the chemical process.

Hand dryers have a reputation for leaving hands slightly moist, even after an adequate amount of time as been spent at the hand dryer. These units have also been known to noisy or to eliminate access to paper towels, which customers may want to clean up spills or messes. New and improved versions of hand dryers have enough warm air force to completely dry hands, solving this issue. Newer units are often quieter, and some even have a swiveling nozzle which will allow you to dry spills or messes, which is actually a better way of cleaning clothes than paper towels because paper towels can set in a stain rather than help remove it.

"Green" hand dryers eliminate the need for paper towels, which is a great way to save the environment by reducing the number of trees that must be cut down in order to make these paper towels, as well as minimizing the amount of waste that is dumped into landfills. Eco-friendly hand dryers are also ideal for reducing the amount of water your business or organization uses, which will prove profitable for your business by reducing your utility bills while you help save the environment.
