Types
There are two different types of countertop buffet warmers to choose from, either heated base or heated base & infrared top heat. These two varieties differ slightly only because of the infrared top heat. Heated base units are the perfect alternative to canned heat and are ideal for holding hot foods on buffet lines or at temporary serving areas. A metal sheathed element directs heat from above while the thermostatically controlled base conducts heat below at temperatures of 80-200 degrees Fahrenheit. This combination of heating extends holding time while keeping food at a safe temperature.
Heated base & infrared top heat countertop buffet warmers hold food safely at proper serving temperatures and are ideal for holding hot foods at kitchen work area, waitress pick-up stations, or customer serving points. These type of units have pre-focused infrared top heat that directs heat to the outer edges of the holding surface where heat loss is the greatest.
Specialty Options
These types of buffet equipment have one type of specialty option for you to choose from. Portable units are available. Portable units are simply the heated pan that the food is placed on. This unit can be moved from one buffet restaurant warmer to another easily and provides flexibility to your restaurant.
Width
Varying widths allows you flexibility for your buffet area by allowing you as little or much room as necessary. Heated base countertop buffet warmers range in width from 25 1/8"-73 1/8". Heated base & infrared heat units range in size from 30 1/8"-78 1/8" wide. Portable heated base units are all 12" wide.
NEMA
The type of plug necessary for the equipment is another factor to consider when choosing a countertop buffet warmer. Heated base models can have NEMAs of 5-15P, 5-20P, and L14-20P. Heated base & infrared heat units have the same NEMAs as the previous models, 5-15P, 5-20P, and L14-20P. Portable heated base units have a NEMA of 5-15P.
