KaTom Goes Interactive!
At KaTom, our ultimate goal is to provide a pleasant, professional experience to you, the customer, regardless of the avenue through which you find and communicate with us. As a way to make your website browsing experience an easier and more enjoyable one, we have created an online tool called the “KaTom Ice Machine Calculator” or the “Ice Picker,” which can be found on the Ice-O-Matic homepage. This interactive tool was designed with the customer in mind. Our team created the “ice picker” as a way to allow customers to input their data, such as approximately how many drinks they fill per day, and receive a calculation of how much ice you will need overall, followed by a decision about which ice maker is right for your business or organization.
Once you are on the Ice-O-Matic homepage, there will be a large graphic (see top of article for example!) that is actually a link to the ice machine calculator. This will open another pop-up that is the actual calculator. You will see two boxes with drop down menus on the top center of the page, one asking you to choose your outlet type and another asking you to choose your ice type. Typically, you will choose a 60 hertz outlet if you are located within the United States and a 50 hertz outlet if you are an international customer. After you have chosen your outlet type, the next step is to choose which type of ice you prefer, either cube, pearl / nugget, or flake ice. (If you are not sure which is right for your business, check out our ice machine buyer’s guide!)
After you have made these two decisions, you are ready to being the calculations process. The first step is to locate on the chart the type of application you will be using your new ice maker for. Our options are foodservice, lodging, healthcare, and convenience store use. Beside each option, you will see a list of the various applications each type of business or organization will generally use their ice machine for. You will need to fill in the quantity information beside each application to receive an accurate reading on the amount of ice you need each day as well as the appropriate ice maker. When the information is entered, the “Amount of Ice Needed per Day” field will calculate, as well as the “Your estimated peak ice use is” field at the bottom of the screen. Once all of this information has been entered and calculated, you will need to click on the “Choose my Icemaker” button located at the bottom center of the screen. This button will then take you to a new screen that has a picture of the ice maker that is recommended for your usage, as well as information on it, followed by a link to the actual ice maker.
We encourage you to take advantage of our new ice machine calculator and hope to hear from you concerning your feelings on the tool, whether you like, dislike, or have questions or concerns about it. We would love to continue to create useful tools to allow customers an easier buying experience, and hope to improve our existing one through the use of customer feedback.
