Eating Healthy: A Restaurant Guide

As the world begins to realize the importance of eating healthy and staying fit, consumers are leaning more toward healthy food options even when dining out. In any given area, there are numerous restaurant choices, some of which offer healthy choices for you during your dining out experience. Restaurants are starting to take notice of the importance of allowing consumers to view their nutritional information any time they would like.
Diners who are serious about having a healthy dining experience can now turn to the internet as well to help them make educated, healthy dining choices. Two healthy dining websites are leading the pack to help consumers find healthful, “dietitian-approved” menu items at local restaurants. Armed with this type of information, diners can make their healthy dining choice before leaving their home. HealthyDiningFinder.com and GoodFoodNearYou.com are both bringing nutritional information to you at the click of your mouse, listing everything from fat and calorie content to special ways to order your food to make it as nutritionally sound as possible.
These sites allow the user to enter their zip code, address, or even pick a nearby hot spot and then a list of healthy dining locations and options will appear. GoodFoodNearYou.com has taken the process a step further and are offering both an iPhone app and BlackBerry app to allow customers to view their dining options from their cell if they are on the go.
A majority of the restaurants that show up are chain establishments, however there are a number of smaller, family-owned businesses that offer waistline friendly options as well. Since these do not show up on these sites, we encourage our readers to send in any local restaurants in your area that offer healthy dining options. Please remember to give the name of the establishment as well as the city and state it is located in to help other diners make educated choices as well. We can’t wait to hear from you!
