Prevent Breakage
In order to prevent your Anchor Hocking glassware from breaking, follow these 6 simple steps to minimize the risk.
- Do not stack your drinkware.
- Never place drinkware in the microwave.
- Avoid picking up numerous pieces of drinkware in one hand.
- Do not place silverware inside your drinkware.
- Avoid dramatic changes in temperature.
- Try to keep drinkware from colliding with any other surface.
Avoid Glass Etching
Glassware tends to etch, or gain a permanent film, via the following methods. These situations should be avoided in order to reduce the likelihood of glass etching.
- Avoid soft water; especially water that is produced by an installed water softening system.
- Excessively high water temperature.
- Overuse of dishwashing detergent.
Once etching occurs, the damage is permanent. However, the following steps can be taken to help avoid reoccurrence of etching.
- Check glassware for a rainbow hue, as this is the first sign of etching.
- If you see the rainbow hue on your drinkware, reduce the amount of dishwashing detergent you use, but never use less than 1 Tbsp.
- Reduce the amount of dishes washed at each washing. This will allow dishes to be thoroughly rinsed.
- Do not allow water temperature to reach above 140° F.
How to Properly Care for Your Anchor Hocking Bakeware
In order to receive the maximum life out of your Anchor Hocking bakeware, it s advise that you complete the following 6 steps:
- Use In Oven Heat Only - Oven heat typically will not burn or brown your glassware. Stovetops, broilers, and toasters ovens should be avoided.
- Avoid Extreme Temperature Changes - Anchor Hocking bakeware can be used to store food, or cook food, but should not be taken directly from the freezer to the oven. Food should be thawed first before being reheated.
- Clean with Plastic or Nylon Non-Scratch Pads or Cleansers - Whenever possible, your Anchor Hocking bakeware should be washed with warm water and detergent. Should have you have stuck-on foods, a non-scratch brush or pad can be used.
- Avoid Impact with Hard Objects or Surfaces - Glass bakeware can be scratched, weakened, or broken upon impact with other hard objects. Chipped, cracked, or noticeably scratched glass should be avoided due to health hazards.
- Do No Use Plastic Food Storage Covers - in the oven, on the stovetop, in the broiler, or toaster oven. Storage covers are designed for use in microwave ovens.
- Fiber Baskets are not for Microwave or Oven Use - These baskets are designed for holding serving pieces only.
How To Properly Care for Your Anchor Hocking Pitchers
- Use your Anchor Hocking pitcher for cold beverages only. These pitchers are not designed for warm beverage use.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes. Avoid pouring boiling liquid into the pitcher and then rinsing it with cold water.
- Avoid impact with hard surfaces or objects. Pitchers can crack, break, or scratch easily, so impact with hard surfaces should be avoided whenever possible.
