The Southbend 348-RG245NG countertop steamer is heated by natural gas with a gas-fired stainless steel steam generator. The exterior is made from 304 stainless steel, and the interior is made from 316 stainless steel. The cooking chamber has coved corners that are easy to clean than square corners. The heavy-duty, stainless steel door has a stainless steel inner liner with a full perimeter gasket that keeps the heat inside the chamber. The outer liner is made of one-piece, all-welded stainless steel. The spring-release door has a positive lock and seal mechanism that makes opening and closing the door simple. A stainless steel drip trough connected to the drain collects condensate when the door is opened.

A fully accessible and removable panel comes with the stainless steel control housing where the controls to operate the steamer are. There is an illuminated, three-mode power switch that lets you choose on, off, or de-lime. Knowing where the food is in the cooking process is easy with the cooking and ready indicator lights. At the end of the cooking cycle, a 60-minute electric timer with an audible alarm goes off. The Southbend 348-RG245NG countertop steamer also comes with solid-state generator controls and electronic ignition.
