The Ice-O-Matic ICE1406FW ice machine head makes full-cube ice that is 7⁄8 inches square at a rate of up to 1,386 pounds per day. The ice machine is water-cooled, requiring an extra water connection and drain for the condenser inlet and outlet, though that water does not need to be potable. The exterior of the ice machine is made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and fingerprint-proof plastic.

The ICE1406FW ice maker features Ice-O-Matic's Pure Ice® antimicrobial protection, which helps prevent bacteria, slime, and fungus from growing on internal components. The ice is harvested with a combination of heat and pins, which results in a faster harvest for more reliable ice production. The evaporator plates are plated with nickel to add durability, and the machine has no air filter, which reduces the amount of maintenance required for the ice machine's upkeep.
